Leadership Luncheon Series

The Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce (TACC Southeast) is proud to continue the Leadership Luncheon Series. The last luncheon featured Mr. Samuel Olens in October 2009. The next luncheon will feature Mr. Charles Craig, President of Georgia Bio on February 9th, 2010.

This series invites the public to join distinguished leaders in enjoying a meal, lecture and discussion period on important issues. Mr. Craig's lecture topic is "How the Life Sciences Industry Impacts Georgians."

Charles Craig is President of Georgia Bio, a non-profit, membership-based organization that promotes the life sciences industry. He raised Georgia's profile last May when Georgia Bio hosted the industry's largest gathering, the BIO International Convention. Mr. Craig's 10 years in the life sciences industry most recently included his work as author and editor of Ernst & Young's Global Biotechnology Reports. Mr. Craig also was a member of Ernst & Young's Global Health Sciences Center for Industry Change, assisting clients in strategic planning. Before joining Ernst & Young, Mr. Craig was director of publications for the Washington, DC-based Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the national association in the U.S. representing the life sciences industry. Mr. Craig was recently selected as one of Georgia Trend magazine's 2010 "100 Most Influential Georgians."

The program will start at 12:00pm with lunch at the Chamber's midtown office, Suite 1010, 1349 West Peachtree St. Atlanta GA 30309.

We welcome attendees from the business community, government, academia and the public. Participation costs $25 for non-members, $20 for members and $10 for students.

CEO/CFO Speaker Series

The TACC's CEO/CFO Speaker Series is bringing influential executives from Fortune 500 companies and Georgia's top 100 companies to breakfast briefings that encourage networking and dialogue amongst the business community.

The Turkish American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast presented the last CEO/CFO series by inviting Frank LaMonaca, Chief Financial Officer of UPS Capital on November 10th 2009. Mr. LaMonaca discussed how UPS Capital's lending approach can help U.S.-based exporters boost sales by providing much-needed financing to their buyers in these emerging markets.

Mr. LaMonaca gave some insight details about the following: As domestic growth has stagnated in recent years, U.S. based companies have looked to international growth markets such as Turkey, India, and Brazil to expand sales. In fact, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, export trade from the U.S to Turkey grew 53% in 2008 to nearly $10 billion annually.

Such events offer insight into the business environment and let individuals and small businesses learn from executives who have seen it all. Meet movers and shakers in Georgia, enjoy some great food and hear about trends and topics that are shaping business in Georgia.

The next CEO/CFO program will be scheduled on March 2010.

Entrepreneurship Workshops

The TACC Southeast is planning to organize Entrepreneurship Workshop series that will feature four sessions of lecture and discussion that develop entrepreneurial skills in program participants. The program targets business students, young professionals and small-business owners. It aims to further enrich the skill-sets of these individuals through interactive, informative sessions with experienced and successful businesspeople.

TACC Southeast is excited to announce that this year's sessions will be hosted by accomplished business owner and successful entrepreneur James Beach and Christopher Hanks, Director of Entrepreneurship Program from University of Georgia. They plan to lead workshops along the following topics:

* Getting to Number One on Google

* Marketing Using Twitter, Facebook, and Social Media

* Buying a Business with no Money

* A Guaranteed Marketing System

Attendance at each workshop will be kept to a maximum of 60 to ensure that everyone can fully benefit from their participation. The program achieves optimal results when participants attend each of the four sessions. However, we understand that various schedules may not permit this and nonetheless encourage interested individuals to take part in as many workshops as they can.

Study Abroad Trips

TACC Southeast organizes study abroad trips to Turkey for international business and MBA students. These special trips are organized for general and Executive MBA programs of prestigious business schools in Georgia. We already started these trip with Kennesaw State University in 2009 and Clayton State University in 2010. We plan to expand future study abroad trips to additional universities, including Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia and Emory University.

These trips include visits to government agencies, private firms, global corporations, small businesses, universities, think-thanks, private hospitals, local families and sightseeing. Some of the organizations we visit regularly:

The purpose of the program is to facilitate commerce between the U.S. and Turkey and develop new partnerships between Turkish and American businessmen. The summit will consist of fairs, parallel conferences, field trips, matchmakings and workshops. State agencies, chambers of commerce, international corporations, and business associations will involve the activities as sponsors.
